Chris Maths

I am in Chris' maths for this term and we have been focusing on dividing and multiplying big numbers like 104 % 8 = 13.    This is the type of questions we have been focusing on this term. I have learnt a lot during this past term and also different ways of figuring things out like Rounding and compensating and lots more. I am really enjoying this maths workshop and hope I can be in this one next term as well.

END OF TERM 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, this is the last week of term three.
On Thursday after school we are holding a disco to fundraise for LC4's camp trip next term. Friday is going to be our pajama day organized by two girls from my class (LC7) LJ & Grace W, we can wear onesies, pajamas or anything you want basically. I have had a great term and can't wait to have another one next term.

Immersion Applicaton

For the last term we switched between different immersions and now our teachers have told us that we need to apply for an immersion group. I chose to write my first application for designing the new playground for the seniors (LC7 / 6, 7, 8) for my first choice. My second choice was the performance immersion because it is pretty fun, but I am more interested in designing / making the new playground. My third choice was to make some signage for the school.
Here are some links to my applications

My third application I hand wrote because there were no more computers.

Immersion #4

For my last immersion I was with Nicole and Helen learning about New Zealand history. Our first session we got about twelve pictures and we had to try and find the pictures on google and make a google doc and put them in order from most recent to least recent. Here is a link to my docFor our next session we had to write a couple of paragraphs about why history is important to us. We had to explain what history is including an example ; WW1, World War 1, the First World War, the Great War, or the War to End All Wars and we also had to explain what life would be like without history.

Bruce Mason Theatre Trip

On Tuesday our whole school went to Bruce Mason Theatre in Takapuna. We learnt about theatrical performances, acting, sound effects, Lighting and other things that were in seperate rooms. Fot the theatrical performances workshop included working with sound equipment, changing the lights during the play it also included the smoke machine, stage manager and lastly you could act. In my opinion the best part was doing the lighting and sound  because when I was doing the sound I got to wear the coms ( comunicators ) and people were telling me when to click on the sounds for the play, I just thought it was a really great experience.  I'd love to see a play there whenI know what is going on in the background.

Music Contract

Last week I created a music contract which basically explained what I would be doing while listening to music and the rules of having the privileges of listening to music and what would happen if we disobeyed the rules. We also had to get Amy, Nicole, Jess and one of our parents to sign our contract we also had to sign it to prove that it is our contract.
All of the teachers and my mum signed my music contract because they thought that they can trust me enough to listen to music during the independent learning time.
I am really glad to have this privilege because I can have a nice background noise instead of blurred conversations in the background. It is a great opportunity to work on trust.

Chris Maths

For this term I am doing math with Chris, one of our student teachers from AUT. We are focusing on splitting the factors.
Here are some examples:

A)  49 x 5 =  245                                       E)      33 x 6 =  198
      49 = 40 / 9                                                     33 = 30 / 3
      40 x 5 = 200  \                                               30 x 6 = 180   \
      9 x 5 = 45      /   245                                      3 x 6 18          /   198

B)  18 x 4 =  72                                            F)    7 x 48 =
      18 = 10 / 8                                                     48 = 40 / 8
      10 x 4 = 40 \                                                  40 x 7 = 280  \
      8 x 4 = 32   /  72                                            8 x 7 = 56      /  336

C) 6 x 61 = 366                                        G)      4 x 73 =
     61 = 60 / 1                                                     73 = 70 / 3
     60 x 6 = 360  \                                               70 x 4 = 280  \
     1 x 6 = 6        / 366                                        3 x 4 = 12      /   292

D) 26 x 5 =  130
     26 = 20 / 6
    20 x 5 = 100 \
    6 x 5 = 30     / 130

Talent show

On Wednesday our whole school walked down to the high school, a group of kids got to go early because they were either helping with the special effects or performing so they could practice their performances. The talent show was very interesting to watch and I really enjoyed helping with the sound it was a great opportunity to learn about using the controls and all of the rest. I can't wait till next time and hopefully I can try something different like lights or MC.

#3 Immersion

For my third immersion we focused on silhouettes and a mural for the wall in our cafeteria. We also had to choose an image that is from Hobsonville point. I chose a picture of a playground around bomb point some other choices were birds, planes, other parts of different playgrounds, people at our school and a lot others. I really enjoyed doing a kahoot about the silohettes of different cities. I am now moving on to Nicoles immersion.

Immersion #2

For my second immersion we had it with Liv, I missed the first two because I was in Palmerston North. But I got to go to the last one and we focused on creating other images out of signs. I buddied up with Grace W. We chose which character we wanted to customize I chose to make the man, Grace did the lady we coordinated and did the angel and devil. Other examples were Fashionista's, superman, blob fish's, unicorn and others.  I really enjoyed designing the characters because I could use more creativity which was one of my dispositional goals.

Immersion #1

For my first immersion I did digital design of a playground on tinker cad. We could also choose to design a bike / motocross track, monkey bars and other playground equipment. Some people got to print their designs, the designs that got printed were a fidget spinner, monkey bars and some poles in a circle. For my next immersion we are working on silhouettes.

Chinese

For languages the Yr 7ś are learning about Chinese. This week we are focusing on the Chinese zodiac signs, my zodiac sign is the rooster.
Here is a backstory about it. The Rooster is the tenth in the 12-year cycle of Chinese zodiac sign. The Years of the Rooster include 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, 2029.. The rooster is almost the epitome of fidelity and punctuality. For ancestors who had no alarm clocks, the crowing was significant, as it could awaken people to get up and start to work. In Chinese culture, another symbolic meaning of chicken carries is exorcising evil spirits.  Element: Metal (Jin)  Yin Yang: Yin  Season: Autumn. The rooster is a good walker. You are also good at telling stories and fun to be around. You get along best with pigs, snakes and dragons.
